Team Ovation's Thanksgiving Traditions

Posted by Bridget Beirne on November 21, 2012

traditionsAs everyone gears up for Thanksgiving, the gang at Ovation Communication has gathered together to offer you some of our favorite traditions:

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade:  The Macy’s Parade has been a Thanksgiving constant since 1924. Whether watching it live on the street in New York, or on TV while snug in pajamas, it’s a must for many. Thinking of making the trek to New York to stand in the cold and see it for yourself? Check out some parade viewing tips here.

Cooking from scratch: Anyone can pop in a Marie Callender pie. Team Ovation goes full out, with gravy cook-offs and pumpkin pies made with homemade pumpkin puree. What are your home-cooked favorites? Just in case you’ve waited until last minute, here’s a great recipe to start with.

Friendsgiving: Not going to be home with the family this year? Celebrate Thanksgiving with the “family you choose” by having Friendsgiving! It’s a great way to incorporate traditions from different families, cities, or even countries. Kick it up a notch and throw in some games after dinner- Bicycle Cards has some great card game suggestions!

New Twists on Old Favorites: Mashed potatoes can become potato pancakes, turkeys change into turduckens, and stuffing has a new life as stuffin’ muffins. You might stumble upon a new tradition if you try something for the first time!

Are you ready for some football?: If you’re more interested in the pigskin than the turkey skin, Thanksgiving week is for you! Find out when your team is playing here, then reserve your seat on the couch.

From all of Team Ovation to all of you, have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
