Center Stage: Team Ovation Gears Up for the Oscars [CineFix's Video]

Posted by Bridget Beirne on February 20, 2014

center stageTeam Ovation is gearing up for the 2014 Academy Awards!

It's that time of year again! Awards season is definitely upon us, with the 2014 Academy Awards not far away. (You can catch the Oscars on March 2nd.) Before we know it, it will be time for the TONY awards, as well!

However, we don't just love awards season for the fabulous clothes, parade of stars, and nuanced performances. Award shows are very useful learning opportunities- with one public speech after another, it's a great way to analyze and critique the skills of others, while building self-awareness of your own abilities. You can take note of things like:

  • Who is the most confident speaker?
  • Who has the least verbal viruses?
  • Who is letting their "costume" do the talking?
  • How are major flubs handled?
  • What is the best personal story of the night?
  • Which speeches are concise and well structured?

This year, we'll be having our own Ovation Awards of the Oscars. Post broadcast, we'll be handing out some Team Ovation kudos for great professional skills of the stars. We're looking forward to it!

Until then, we're glad to share one of our favorite recent additions to award season. There is a video series that releases a new short this time of year and, for our money, it's a must see. CineFix brings you Kids Reenacting the 2014 Best Picture Oscar nominees. Sure, there might be a spoiler or two (heads up!), but an adorably hysterical one at that.

Many thanks to CineFix for the video!
